MORE STORIES

LET ME TELL YOU A STORY is an online repository of 100 stories written by children ages 6 to 10+ in India, 15 of which have been illustrated by artists in Switzerland, and 45 of which have been narrated by storytellers in India.

The project was conceived by ThinkArts, in the midst of the nation-wide lockdown in 2020 to see the changing world through the eyes of children, hear their voices, and read the stories they want to tell, and has been realised with the support of Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.

15 prompts or lines from children’s literature were chosen to provide an impulse to the children, out of which 5 were translated from children’s books in Switzerland, shared by Marion Regenscheit of Internationales Literaturfestival BuchBasel.

Although most of the stories were received in English, some of them have been translated by storytellers in Hindi and Bengali to reach more children across the country, who may want to experience the stories in other languages!

In these unprecedented times, Let Me Tell You A Story now looks towards these stories of hope, of discovery and exploration, of defeating monsters or even befriending them, as a reminder of the resilience of the human heart to carry on imagining and creating.

We were delighted to present an iteration of this project with children in Bhutan at the invitation of the Embassy of Switzerland in India and Bhutan. You can see the stories here
