ARTS FOR JUNIORS 2023

Arts For Juniors, in association with Goethe-Insitute / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata, is an initiative for children to engage with, discover and explore the world of art, music and books through a range of diverse, exciting activities.
These sessions are designed not to ‘teach an art form’ but to acquaint children with different artists and authors, share their inspirations and in the process spark imagination and encourage the participants to explore their own creativity. ARTS FOR JUNIORS 2023
Sessions For ages 9 to 12 Online Sessions
Look at Art A fantastic opportunity for children to explore different artists, styles, methods, material and create their own artwork inspired by the artists’ works. 20th May, 3:00 pm Emil Nolde One of the earliest Expressionists, Emil Nolde used colour in oil paint in ways that most people hadn't before. Children attending the session will be introduced to his brushwork and expressive choice of colours. Listening Together Inviting children to immerse themselves in the world of western classical music - playfully discover about different musicians and their lives and listen to their works. 9th June, 4:00 pm Johann Sebastian Bach One of the most recognisable figures in Western Classical music, often cited as the 'father of harmony', Johann Sebastian Bach's music changed the way music was composed forever. The session will invite children to creatively respond to the music they listen to. Offline session at Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata Library, Park Street. 6th October, 3:00 pm Female Composers in Germany Tracing female composers including Clara Schumann, Hildegard of Bingen, Fanny Mendelsohn, and others, the session will include listening to music composed by women, many of whom were related to better known male composers, but failed to receive the same recognition. Session For Teenagers 5th May at 4:00 pm - Listening Together: German Jazz (OFFLINE at Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata Library, Park Street.) The session will take the participants on a journey of the last 100 years of Jazz in Germany, from its beginnings to the present. They will also listen to a selection of jazz music by various artists from Germany. 7th October at 3:00 pm- Look at Art: Tino Sehgal (Online) The session will introduce participants to visual artist Tino Sehgal's work performed through people, or 'interpreters' in museum spaces.
