A solo piece by Swapnika Reddy (intended for ages 2–5 and caregivers).
Neer invites young audiences on a whimsical journey into the world of water, blending wonder with imagination. The play with water will tell the tale of water's journey from a drop of water, a cascading waterfall, pitter-patter raindrops, to splish-splash puddles, ending in a magical rainfall. Neer is inspired from the creator's own relationship with water. Neer premiered at the FRATZ International Festival 2024. It was originally created as part of the FRATZ Research Labs 2024 in cooperation with FRATZ International and ThinkArts. Neer will return to FRATZ International in 2026. About Swapnika (ThinkArts Associate Artist) Swapnika is a facilitator and educator who's come to believe a simple fact of life she read once: Birds fly, fish swim and children play. Holistic education practices that are built on the foundation of experiential learning have helped her to see how children learn through play. She finds joy in watching the young ones collect and select many elements from the world around them to form their worldview and personality. The time she has spent with the young in their pre-primary years has given her the opportunity to observe how the arts play a significant role in the early years. This curiosity led her to study theatre for education and social transformation at Shiv Nadar University, India. Swapnika borrows many tools from theatre techniques to enter into the world of the young. She believes in the rich variety of opportunities that theatre practices offer in the learning processes in a classroom. These days, Swapnika is diving deeper into the world of theatre for the young. |

Feedback"One very special moment was when the artist poured water from a kettle. The children softly asked, “Water?”, as if they were checking and trying to understand what they were seeing. As the performance continued, their expressions showed a sense of wonder, as though their question was being answered through the experience itself." "...wide eyes, soft gasps, and complete focus..." “...it was an interesting and enjoyable experience that helped build the children’s curiosity, imagination and observation skills.” To invite Neer to your space, and for further details of touring, please get in touch at [email protected]
