ABOUTNotes from the Neighbourhood was a 6-month long project encouraging teenagers from Goa to explore their immediate surroundings through these questions, and in the process, and in doing so, deepen the experience of where they live. Through workshops facilitated by the ThinkArts team, sensory walks, conversations with friends, family, and strangers, these 12 students from 3 schools set out to uncover the stories that they wanted to share.
They were guided by questions such as: How long has your neighbourhood been around, and what stories lie in its past? What was here where our homes now stand? What are the sights, smells, and sounds around you? The project culminates in an exhibition at the Goa Open Arts Festival 2026. The exhibition presents the young people’s discoveries shared through stories, memories, photographs, drawings, and collages, and extends an invitation to viewers to reflect on and contribute their own notes from their neighbourhoods. ThinkArts was awarded the Goa Open Arts Engage Grant in 2025 for Notes from the Neighbourhood. |
