ThinkArts & Schools
A core belief at ThinkArts is that the arts play a vital role in a child's learning journey, at any age. We continuously curate meaningful ways to integrate creative engagements and thoughtfully crafted art experiences into a young person's education, ensuring they have opportunities to explore, express, and connect with the world through the arts.
Since our inception, we have collaborated with more than 70 schools across India in various capacities: through productions and workshops designed for students, sometimes teachers, participatory projects that encourage active engagement from young adults. Some collaborations emerge from direct partnerships with schools, while others take shape through alternative connections. In every case, ThinkArts remains committed to making the arts an essential and enriching part of education, fostering creativity, curiosity, and artistic expression in young minds.
In 2025 ThinkArts is piloting a new programme: Performer-in-Residence. Stay tuned to find out more!

Arts Engagements & Other workThinkArts regularly partners with schools for its various arts and museum engagements. Some initiatives have previously included a postcard exhibition with two schools across borders - Rajasthan and Adelaide, Australia; several exhibition walkthroughs; arts engagements in the form of bespoke workshops which respond to interesting themes within an art form or expose an artist's life in imaginative ways. |
Performing artsThinkArts has been working towards bringing high-quality, innovative and award-winning theatre productions to children and young people since 2013, and has brought more than 20 international shows to India! ThinkArts has also partnered with schools to facilitate workshops on writing and performing, exhibitions, and various other engagements over the years. In 2025 ThinkArts launched Perfomer-in-Residence, an entirely novel way for children to understand the performing arts. |
Testimonials
I have greatly admired the work of ThinkArts from its very inception. It is a bold initiative to foster Arts education among children of varying ages – such a neglected part of the curriculum typically followed in schools, but so important. Ruchira and her team encourage and develop creativity in children through unusual activities tailor-made for different age groups ranging from theatre to craft work using familiar objects from the child’s environment, and even learning to interact with works of celebrated artists. An amazing quality that the ThinkArts team has is their gentle and sensitive handling of children and the non-threatening atmosphere in their workshops which makes it conducive to teaching – learning without any stress. They are committed to quality work and demonstrate a refreshing approach to education in its true sense.

We have never witnessed such a programme ever before and it was a very new experience for us. We feel that it was a very educative, enjoyable programme and we got to learn many lessons. We are sure that because of this programme, our students have gained immensely, enough to last them in their life.

ThinkArts deserve a big applause for putting up this wonderful Exhibition, with the help of Kolkata Schools, on "Our History Their Times" at the South Park Street Cemetery. I was blown away by the idea and how much the schools have put in

Thank you ThinkArts team, for the exciting learning opportunities you created at the Indian Museum on Children's Day. Museums are not only dead buildings with do-not-touch me artefacts. The gallery spaces were pulsating with life - children running fast to identify animals, laughing loudly, winning coloured ribbons... A perfect example of engaging families in museums to provide a meaningful experience.

From a participatory art project
"I took part in the Our History Their Times project last year. Working on that project was a totally new and special experience for me. I don't like History very much but it was the creative aspect of the project that fascinated me and I felt encouraged to take part in it. During our journey to the past, which began in August I came to know so much, from Jane Austen's world to the evolution of Mac and Cheese! It was so enthralling.
"And also creating the recipe book, which was my major project was a wonderful experience, I put all my creativity, imagination and all my research in it. I took pride in my work when it was completed and also felt elated when people appreciated it when it was exhibited. Also I made a lot of new friends during the project.
"It was wonderful experience, a wonderful journey for me and it was made possible by ThinkArts, my teachers, my friends and everyone else who took part in it."

“What I loved most about the play was how it did not seem to have a beginning or an end. When it began, none of us felt sure whether it had actually begun and when it ended, I kept expecting the characters to return for another scene. Life is not something which can be defined or understood. It ebbs and flows, permeating through the chalk lines we try to enclose it within. You don’t remember when it began and you never know when it will end. All you do know, is that while you’re there, you might as well try to just give it sense and live it to the best of your abilities. Chalk About was one such play that took the audience through a similar journey, one as beautiful as life itself.”
